Genentech – 40 Moments Publishing Platform
2016 marked Genentech’s 40th anniversary and to celebrate each week throughout the year they wanted to share the moments that have defined their journey so far. I lead a small team of creatives in designing a branded publishing platform for Genentech to write articles, showcase new videos and old photos, and capture employee quotes.
We started with a handful of interaction models and landed on a “hub” that had links off to the articles. It has two views: a reverse chronological tile system and a chronological list.
Once the user has read an article it is immediately followed by another article with a similar subject. This creates a stream of articles that end when there is no longer similar content – usually between three to five articles.
The site was used successfully throughout the year with only a few minor alterations to our original design & development.
